Drill-Powered Jack For Fishing Boat Trailer That Doesn't Require Any Wiring

Published 05/18/2026

Question:

I have a 16-foot jon boat trailer, and the jack still works, but it takes forever to crank up and down. I don’t want to wire in anything electric. Is there a simple drill-powered jack with a wheel?

Good morning Eddie! The etrailer Sidewind Aluminum Jack with Wheel - Swivel Bolt - 1.5K # e95YV is the one I’d look at for that.

It gives you a 1,500 lb capacity, 12" of travel, and a built-in wheel, so it still works like a normal boat trailer jack when you need to roll the tongue a little. The nice benefit is that you can fold the handle down and use the included 19mm socket with a standard non-impact drill to raise or lower the jack faster and easier.

It also swivels up along the trailer frame when you’re towing, which keeps the wheel and lower jack assembly out of the way. What kind of boat and trailer do you have?
