Replacement Jack For A Pontoon Trailer That Can Be Powered By Cordless Drill

Question:
I’ve got a pontoon trailer that sits outside by the lake, and the jack is stiff enough now that my wife won’t mess with it. I don’t really want to wire in an electric jack on a boat trailer. Would an aluminum drill jack be a good route?

Good morning Frank! The etrailer Sidewind Aluminum Jack with Wheel - Swivel Bolt - 1.5K # e95YV is a really nice option when you want easier operation without wiring an electric jack.
It has a 1,500 lb capacity, 12 inches of travel, and a wheel for moving the trailer tongue around at the ramp or in storage. Since it uses an aluminum body with stainless steel hardware, it is better suited for wet boat-trailer use than a painted steel jack.
The drill feature is the big arm-saver here. Use the included 19mm socket with a regular non-impact drill, and slow down near the top and bottom of travel so the drill does not kick hard in your hand. Frank, do you know the tongue weight on that pontoon trailer?
