Question:
Finally getting around to installing the Curt wireless brake controller on my 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe. Upon plug-in no blue light. The car came with a factory installed trailer hitch and 7 way connector. There is no power to the 12 volt Aux pin on the connector. All trailer lights work. The fuse box has 3 fuses labeled Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and Trailer 3. All have good 20 Amp fuses in place. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Armand

Hello Armand,
Thanks for getting back to me, let’s get the power working to your 7-way so we can get your Curt Echo brake controller # C51180 in working order. Here are the steps I would take to find out what the issue is.
First, check the relay in the under-hood fuse box. Even if the Trailer 1, Trailer 2, and Trailer 3 fuses are present, the relay for the trailer power circuit is sometimes not installed from the factory. Look for a relay labeled something like trailer power relay or trailer battery charge relay. If that relay is missing, the 12V pin at the 7-way will not have power.
Next, verify that the charge line is actually pinned and connected at the back of the 7-way connector. In some cases, the wiring is not fully completed from the factory, so the 12V wire is not run to the connector at all. If that is the case, you would need to run a charge line using something like the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506.
After that, test the 12V pin on the 7-way with a tester or multimeter. It is best to do this with the engine running, since some vehicles only energize that circuit when the vehicle is on. If there is still no power, that confirms the charge line is not active.
If the relay is installed and the wiring is present but you still do not have power, the last possibility is that the charge circuit needs to be activated by the dealer.
These steps should help narrow down exactly where the issue is and get your Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller # C51180 powered up. Please let me know what you find out.

In checking the web it states that there is a connector or fuse panel for the connector for 12v power behind the the inside cargo panel left side interior. I don’t have a Sante Fe to check but in the past on several different vehicles I have had to install a fuse to get the power to the plug to work. Also call the Hyundai dealer and ask for any advice. I can gain access to a 2026 Hyundai Sante Fe but would take a little time as there is one at my work.
