Can I Rotate the Electric Jack w/ Footplate and 7-Way Plug on the Trailer for Tailgate Clearance?

Question:
Can the jack be mounted so it is rotated to allow for tailgate clearance? Is there an adapter available to run the jack from my trailer battery through my trailer 7-way connector?

Hello David,
Great question. The Electric Jack w/ Footplate and 7-Way Plug - A-Frame - 25-1/8" Lift - 3.5K - Black # EJ-3527-BBX uses the standard 3-bolt A-frame mounting pattern, so you can rotate it for better tailgate clearance. Because that bolt pattern is symmetrical, the holes will still line up if you turn the jack in 120-degree increments. That’s actually a pretty common way to gain a little extra space, especially with trucks that have tighter tailgate clearance.
The main thing to keep in mind when rotating it is where the motor housing and switches end up. Depending on your setup, the head of the jack could still get close to the tailgate, or the switch might end up facing a less convenient direction. It’s also worth checking around propane tanks or battery boxes to make sure nothing interferes once it’s repositioned.
As far as power goes, the Electric Jack w/ Footplate and 7-Way Plug - A-Frame - 25-1/8" Lift - 3.5K - Black # EJ-3527-BBX is designed to run through the 7-way plug, and there isn’t an adapter available to switch it over to run directly off the trailer battery. If you wanted to power a jack from the trailer battery instead, you’d be looking at a different style that hardwires to the battery rather than one with a 7-way plug.
What kind of trailer are you putting this on? Do you have to get in the bed often while you are hitched up?

It worked great easy to install. I can open my tail gate with this jack. I installed it on a 40 ft. Palomino Puma. I’m very satisfied with my purchase. I also highly recommend it.

We wound up Uninstaller this jack. It was too tall to work with our truck camper. And after breaking down on a long trip I got concerned that, while possible, it would be inconvenient to detach the trailer if the truck was not running. We're replacing this jack with the one that works with a battery drill and also has a handle to crank. Didn't return it because it did work great. But just stuff to think about.
