Hi Mark!

From the bottom of the mounting plate to the bottom of the foot plate on the etrailer Electric Trailer Jack w/ 7-Way and SnapPad - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 3.5K # e22QV you are looking at just under 9" (8-7/8" to be exact). With the SnapPad installed, you will need to add another inch to that. So call it 10" with the SnapPad installed.

What are wanting to install this on and what vehicle will you be plugging it in to?

Installing on a 2021 16ft Big Boss open trailer. The trailer sits a bit low. I pull it with a 2017 Jayco class A motorhome. When hooked up, the jack on the trailer sits very low...in fact I have bumped several curbs and ruts that have bent the jack. I believe if sitting only 10 inches from the bottom of the jack to the mounting plate it would be plenty of room to run without catching on bumps or curbs.

@Mark Makes sense. I understand the need for a utility type trailer to be fairly low, but I don't know why they make jack so long sometimes. Guess it's jus tone of those great mysteries. And I also have to admit to not expecting you to say you are towing it with a Class A motorhome. What are you typically carrying in it?
