Adding A 7-Way Trailer Connecter To A 2020 Ford Explorer

I recently bought this pop up camper with look like. 7pin round connector…but I don’t got any idea where to start or buy female connector for it I got a 2020 explorer ecoboost with just a 2inch ball receiver on it but no wiring installed yet

Hi Ray!
We can definitely get your 2020 Ford Explorer EcoBoost set up with wiring to tow your new pop-up camper.
Since you don't have any wiring yet, you will need to start with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56093. This is a 4-Flat, but it will handle a bunch of the functions needed to then upgrade to a 7-Way. It is also plug and play, so it is a fairly quick and easy install. You will need to run one wire up to the battery for needed power, but I would hold off on that until you get into upgrading to the 7-Way to make things easier.
To do that upgrade, you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wire # ETBC7. This piggybacks off the 4-Flat and will get you the rest of the needed functions. I included an install video of this being installed on a 2013 Explorer for you to check out as well. It's a little bit of work, but definitely doable at home.
The last thing you will need is a brake controller (a 7-Way on any kind of trailer would mean it has brakes and will need to be used). There are a bunch of options for that, but I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness - Dash Knob - Proportional # RED52VR. This is easy to use, easy to install, and works extremely well. You will need to drill a small hole either in your dash or an open/blank switch port to mount the knob, but I think it's worth it. It will look stock once you are done. You also won't have a controller taking up space in your footwell, which is a huge plus. I'm 6'5" and always smack my knees on those types of controllers. This is the one to go with.

I have installed etrailer wire harness kits on 2008, 2011, 2015, and 2019 Ford Taurus and they have worked perfectly. Easy install, and no problems .
