Can I Use a Voyager Back Up Camera Even If my RV is Prewired for a Furrion Camera

Question:

I have a Grand Design Imagine pre wired for Furrion. Will the Voyager work without a lot of tech issues.

Thanks for your question, Richard.

I see you were looking at the Voyager WiSight 2.0 Wireless Backup Camera System for Prewired RVs # ASA24YR. One thing to keep in mind is that Voyager uses a different plug and mounting style than Furrion. So if your RV is prewired for Furrion, the Voyager camera won’t plug in or mount up directly.

If you’re looking for the easiest, plug-and-play option, the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System # FOS05TASF would be the way to go, it’s designed to match that prewire exactly.

If you’d prefer to go with Voyager, you still can, but it would involve some rewiring and using a full system like the Voyager WiSight 2.0 Wireless RV Backup Camera System # ASA84YR.

Are you leaning toward Voyager because you already have one, or just comparing options?

I purchased the Furrion Vision S for my 2025 Alliance 382RK. It was a snap to install and instructions were very detailed making set up a breeze.

I have used the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera for the past few years and I have been very disappointed in its usefulness. My driving is in the southwest US under very bright sun conditions which washes out the display to the point it is useless. Etrailer’s customer service has been very responsive on a number of tries to correct the issue via setting. When that didn’t help they sent me a new unit which did not help with the washed out display. The only time of day it is useful for me is near sunset and sunrise when the sun is low on the horizon.

@BruceS Dang, I'm really sorry to hear that your experience with the Furrion camera isn't the best. I also want to thank you for sharing this with us. Based off your message it sounds like you have changed the brightness on the monitor. I know this may not be ideal but if you haven't tried it yet, change the angle of the camera down slightly to see if that helps. That's the only other thing I can think of right now for what you're experiencing.

I installed a Furrion Vision S on my Rockwood Geo Pro. The rig is prewired from the factory. The installation was easy. Just traveled across the US. I am please with the camera's performance. It's nice to be able to locate vehicles behind you and saves some time backing into a camp spot without getting out of the rig to double check your clearances. If only it could stop you from running into picnic tables, trees & shrubs... maybe some day it'll activate your brakes. I recommend the product to others.

@Allant I feel like there is a good travel story about picnic tables that I haven't heard yet.

Richard, I have a Grand Design Reflection that was pre-wired as well. I had no problems using the camera. The instructions were very clear. You do need to have the headlights turned on to activate the camera. You also need to have someone help you dial in adjusting the camera up or down unless you want to spend time going up and down a ladder. I have a GMC 2500 Denali and I have not had issues with the screen washing out so far. You can hook up additional cameras if your trailer is pre-wired for the different locations. I recommend the camera.

@JoeT Having that helper to get the right angle is a major plus.
