Hey Bill, welcome back! The PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch item # PUL63RR is exactly what you'll need for a short bed 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 without the puck system. It will attach directly to a set of 5th wheel rails like the item # PUL59RR that also fits your Silverado.
The PullRite SuperGlide item # PUL63RR has a 20,000 lbs capacity and will provide you with 14" of travel. The additional turning clearance will ensure you don't hit the back of your cab when you're backing or making tight turns.
