How to Pull a Gooseneck Trailer w/a 2020 Peterbilt 567 Tractor

Updated 03/30/2026 | Published 03/26/2026

Question:

We have a 2020 Peterbilt 567 tractor with anti lock air brakes and we have a 40k gooseneck with electric brakes. The adapter we were given by a trailer company told us to unhook the blue wire to disengage the anti brakes. Well that disengage all the trailer brakes. do you have a solution to hook up our tractor to the gooseneck and have all the brakes operational?

I sure do Chris. To operate your gooseneck trailer's brakes from your 2020 Peterbilt 567 tractor you'll need to install a brake controller.

I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller item # RED44FR. This is a proportional brake controller that slows or stops your trailer with the same amount of force your Peterbilt is slowing or stopping with. It works with trailers that have up to three axles, 12v or 14v electrical systems, and comes with a universal wiring harness.

To install the Redarc item # RED44FR you'll need to find a power source, the cold side of your brake switch, a suitable ground, and then you'll run that blue wire you disconnected to the blue one on the included harness.

What kind of gooseneck trailer are you pulling?
