Hey, Javier.

The Equal-i-zer #EQ37120ET you were originally looking at is rated for 800–1,200 lbs of tongue weight, which is going to be too high of a rating for your specific RV. For a 5,000 lb RV, the Equal-i-zer #EQ37100ET would be the better choice.

Weight distribution systems need to match your trailer’s tongue weight, typically 10–15% of the trailer’s weight, so about 500–750 lbs in your case. You will also want to add in any cargo weight that will be on or behind the rear axle. So if you are loading up any coolers or other gear in the back of your vehicle, make sure to add that in your total tongue weight. The spring bars must have enough weight on them to flex to properly distribute the load. If the system is rated too high for your trailer, the bars won’t flex correctly and won't stabilize your trailer load.

What kind of RV are you towing?
