Is B&W Slider Hitch BWRVK3775 20K Good For 2026 Silverado 2500 6-1/2' Prep Package W/ Jayco 382FLRB?

Updated 03/11/2026 | Published 03/07/2026

Question:

Hello Im buying a new 2026 2500. I have a 2021 2500 unfortunately my hitch wont work with the new truck. Im looking at the BandW Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K. My question is Im looking for something to haul my Jayco 382FLRB. Is this an over kill or what I need. Thank you sorry so long

Hey Steve, I can help you out. Also, congrats on the new truck!

Do one of the trucks not have the prep package or are they different bed sizes? I'm just wanting to make absolutely sure that you can't reuse your old hitch, or part of it. Sometimes B&W has options to remove the head of the hitch and reuse it etc.

That said, the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3775 you were looking at is a fit as long as your 2026 Silverado 2500 has the 6-1/2' bed and prep package. It's definitely rated higher than your 5th wheel, but I wouldn't say it's overkill at all. I think you will be right in the range most people would want to be in! It will fit onto your pucks and allow clearance when turning since it has the slider. B&W is a top tier product, so you'll love it.

Where do you like to go when camping?

Hey Steve, I have this hitch in my 2024 Silverado 2500 and pull a smaller 5th wheel than yours, (Keystone Cougar 316RLS). It pulls great! No chucking and feels super secure when I'm towing. No complaints with the hitch at all. Fits in the OEM pucks well on my truck.

Steve F, I agree with Andrew N. I'm not sure there is ever overkill when setting up to tow. You may want to tow a larger 5th wheel sometime, yours or a friend's. I tow a 12.5K 5th wheel with no problem and my Companion is great for the job. If your new truck has the GM prep package, I'd go with the Companion Hitch. It's simple to install and use. I've also found that if you take the head off of the base, it's simple to remove the base so you can haul a large load in the bed; 2 guys can easily do the R&R. I tow with a '22 Silverado w Duramax / 6.5 foot bed / Multi-flex tailgate. A side note. My '22 owner's manual states only that trans fluid/filter should be changed at 40K miles if frequently used for towing. I was also told by several dealers that there was a lot of equipment to be moved to drop the trans pan. LIES. The pan is not obstructed by any crossover exhaust piping. The pan is tipsy since there' s no drain plug but it is a one man job if you've ever pulled a trans pan before. (Just passing on the info). I don't tow often but I'll be sticking to the 40K interval for changes. Best wishes

I ALSO HAD A 2020 GMC DENALI 2500 AND TRADED IT IN FOR A 2025 DENALI 2500.. MY OLD HITCH DIDNT FIT, SO I BOUGHT A NEW B&W WITH SLIDER FOR MY TRUCK. THE HITCH IS GREAT ..WORKS GOOD AND LOOKS GOOD. NO ISSUES AS OF YET, I GUESS I CAN SAY IT WAS A GREAT BUY. ALL MY STUFF I BUY IS B&W ,.. WOULDNT BUY ANYTHING ELSE.. I AGREE WITH ANDREW N...IT WILL FIT PERFECTLY ON YOUR TRUCK.

Hey Steve, I have a Grand Design Momentum 320G which weighs roughly 16.5K loaded. This new 20K B&W slider hitch works great and is exactly what soIhad hoped it would be, and I would highly recommend it. I’ve only had to use the slider mechanism once with my 204 GMC 2500HD with a 6 1/2 foot bed. And that was only because of a very short/narrow back-in I had to perform.

Hi Steve, I purchased a new Cougar 28RLI on 1/31/26. 11,000 gvwr. As others have said, there is no such thing as overkill. I have a 2025 GMC Denali 2500 with the puck system and the B&W RVK3775 was super easy to install. The fitment with the puck system was spot on, no issues at all. Do not hesitate to purchase one for your setup. So far, I have only pulled our Cougar 90 miles from the dealer to home. No issues at all. However, on the way home I stopped at a state park marina with a 7-8 acre parking lot, to put the new setup through it's paces. Everything worked fine including the sliding feature of the hitch. I highly recommend the B&W and E Trailer for their customer support and fast service.
