Question:

Looking for a surge brake actuator that will fit a Jayco 2012 pop-up. The existing one is rated at 6000 pound with a 2 inch ball and has a lockout for reverse. What would you recommend for a replacement?

Hey Carl. To replace the surge brake actuator on your 2012 Jayco Pop-Up camper, I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator item # DM72VR. This actuator fits a 3" wide channel and bolts directly to it. It has a 7,000 lbs capacity, fits a 2" ball, and works with drum brakes.

The Demco Actuator item # DM72VR has a manual lockout for backing. If your don't want to get out when you're backing your trailer, you'll also want the Reverse Lockout Solenoid Kit for Demco DA70 Hydraulic Brake Actuators item # DM5836. It'll thread directly onto the fitting at the rear of the Demco Actuator item # DM72VR and comes with a protective cover.

Do you have a part number for the actuator that is currently on your Jayco trailer?

I bought this same unit for my car trailer. The unit bolted right on with no Modifications. It works well. I like this new type of latch. The new latch system makes hooking up to the truck easy. No more bumping the truck forward to latch.

I've been using these acuators for years. I haul concrete products every day. They are long lasting and have a great price point.
