Question:
I am planning to install a DM72VR brake actuator on my boat trailer, can I use a suitable rod thru the slotted head to prevent brakes locking up when reversing

Yes, if you inserted a rod into the hole that in front of the housing of the actuator of the part # DM72VR that would work as a manual lock out and allow you to reverse the trailer.
