Features to know about

Stay Level and Comfortable Under Load: 900-lb Rear Suspension Support

Heavy loads can cause sag, rough handling, and uneven steering. These SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs add up to 900 lbs of rear suspension support at 50-percent compression to level your ride and keep it stable. The progressive urethane springs compress easily under light loads for a smoother ride, then firm up as weight increases to help your factory suspension handle the strain without bottoming out.

Comparison image of SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs installed on a vehicle rear axle, showing the uncompressed spring on one side and the compressed spring on the other to illustrate load support and suspension leveling.

Smooth Out Bumps and Road Shock: Progressive Urethane Design

Every bump and dip sends vibration through the chassis when the rear suspension is overloaded. The microcellular urethane material cushions impacts to absorb bumps and road shock, giving you a more controlled and steady drive. As the springs compress, they act like built-in dampers—soft at first for comfort, then firm when the load gets heavy—keeping your tires in better contact with the road.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When uneven cargo or sharp turns throw weight side to side, each SumoSpring works independently to balance the load. This keeps both sides planted, cutting down on sway and body roll through curves or crosswinds. That means more confident handling when you’re hauling gear or navigating winding roads.

Install It Once and Forget It: Maintenance-Free, No-Drill Setup

Adding rear support doesn’t have to mean extra maintenance. These closed-cell urethane springs install in place of your factory bump stops with no drilling required. They don’t need air lines, compressors, or adjustments—just install them and go. With resistance to oil, salt, UV rays, and temperatures from -25°F to 200°F, they hold up season after season without leaks or upkeep.

2008 Dodge Sprinter
Hard to install for 2008 Dodge Sprinter. Had to bend some metal on the van and use some grease along with tire removal. Purchased with matching front sumo springs. The front were easy install. I can tell a ride difference in the front but not the rear. The front spring stay in constant contact with the lower tire arm. The rear springs are not in contact with the rear axel. I attribute no rear ride difference due to this. The van has the original rear leaf strings with no other modification. Possibly when more weight is in the van a difference in ride could be felt.

I would like to reach out to the manufacturer about the issues that you are having with the rear springs. I wanted to ask if you have the 2500 or 3500 Dodge Sprinter van?

by:
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
I was a bit skeptical about these springs, but they do seem to help with the sway and rocking in my Sprinter camper van. I added SumoSprings to the back as well. They were a bit more challenging to install (especially in the front), so I had the dealer install them. It took them more time and effort - more than anticipated. Overall though I am happy with this modification.

This helped a lot ( Front and Back) in conjunction with a larger sway bar for my Sprinter Van.

Rebecca knows her stuff. I gave a request on a Mercedes Sprinter van for our son AND on my Mercedes Winnebago camper and she got both of them correct. The order arrived almost overnight. I trust her.

I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

Glad to hear the install wasn't too bad, Michael! Definitely let us know how the ride is once you take it out for a drive! What are you using your Van for? The tires look pretty beefy.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

Love them! The truck barely even squatted, had two dirt bikes, and a generator in the bed as well! It handles the bumps and sway great

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

  • Recommended SumoSprings for a 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
Hey Austin, welcome back! I am doing well and hope you are too! The SumoSprings for your 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 only come in the black 900 lbs capacity item # SSR-329-47. The only other SumoSpring options go higher item # SSR-327-40-2 and item # SSR-327-47-2. I went through our other vendor options and didn't find anything with a lower capacity. For daily driving the 900 lbs SumoSprings item # SSR-329-47 aren't going to be noticeable unless you hit a pot hole or fly over a speedbump....

  • Recommended SumoSprings For A 2006 Roadtrek Adventurous RS Class B Motorhome
Hey Brian, For a 2006 Roadtrek Adventurous RS on a Dodge Sprinter 2500 chassis you'll need the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front # SSF-402-54 and SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear # SSR-329-47. These are the only SumoSprings confirmed to fit your chassis. The # SSF-402-54 has a 1,400lb capacity and the # SSR-329-47 has a 900lb capacity so you're on the lower end of the capacity spectrum and shouldn't have a ride quality issue with these additions.

  • SuperSprings Rear Helper Springs on 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 are Not Engaging
Having that slight gap between the new SuperSprings # SSR-329-47 and the platform they make contact with is common not just with this brand but with others as well. It allows your suspension to compress some so as not to have too much of an effect on the unloaded ride quality. Since the springs are not engaging at the rear of your 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 that means that the factory suspension is not compressed enough. And that means that the amount of weight you have in the van is...

  • Are SumoSprings Required To Be Added To Both the Front and Rear on a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 2500?
Adding the Rear SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-329-47 is not going to be required on your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 but it will help if you are getting a lot of sag or road shock through your suspension. These will simply replace the hard rubber springs that came on your Sprinter to give you better suspension characteristics. These progressive springs have a capacity up to 900lbs at 50% compression. • 2005 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 Camper - Will SumoSprings Help With Rough Ride?
Hello Paul. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-329-47 will definitely help to smooth out the ride on your 2005 Freightliner Sprinter 2500. These will likely remain in contact with the axle at all times since your camper does have extra weight added to the rear, not to mention any cargo. You are right they are good for heavier payloads, but these are 900 lbs rated springs which I think will be very well suited for your camper which does have some added weight. These will help...
