Question:
Hello! Are there any fire concerns with the Tekonsha 118784 wiring harness? This appears to use a similar design to the harness that was recalled by Hyundai.

Hey Jason, there are no fire concerns with the Tekonsha wiring harness part # 118784 that you referenced. The issue that the Hyundai harness had is totally different than this harness so while I totally get your concern it wouldn't be anything you'd have to worry about with this. Do you have a hitch installed already as well?

I have used it to tow twice on long drives and I haven't had any issues concerning any fires.

As a professional installer I have installed a dozen or more without any issues.

I bought and installed the harness in my 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited. It was easy to install, and I have had zero issues with it. There was a recall at one time on the factory harness. My dealership looked at this harness while I was in for an oil change just as a precaution but since it wasn't the factory harness, they said it wasn't a problem. I use a small utility trailer for projects around the house all summer long and have had no issues.
