How to Install Spring Hangers on Single Axle Trailer
Updated 07/08/2014 | Published 07/04/2014 >
Question:
Re: single axle, double eye, leaf spring hanging kits. How are the hanger mounts attached to the trailer frame? Is welding the only option or could I drill holes and mount them with bolts? How much would welding cost me and where should I go? Thanks.

Spring hangers are intended to be welded on. Although you could drill holes in them and bolt them to your trailer, this would affect their capacity to some unknown degree and so this is not recommended.
A local trailer supply shop will be able to do this, or there may be an automotive shop near you that is able to do the welding. Since there is not a lot of material to weld, the cost should not be excessive.
