Recommended Air Bags and Onboard Compressor for a 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500

Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 02/05/2026

Question:

Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags w/ Easy Mount Compressor - Wireless Control - Single Path - 5,000 lbs Part Number: F36XV I have a 2008 Silverado 3500HD, Duramax, regular cab, long bed, 4X4, SRW, with a BandW turnover ball gooseneck hitch in the bed. Had a level kit installed years ago to remove the rake because of clearance issues with the bed rails and my gooseneck livestock trailer. Believe the level kit was just new torsion keys and front shock brackets. Website shows the above kit will fit, just want to make sure it will with the level kit and gooseneck hitch already installed. Also have a question about the phone APP. Have an Iphone without a data plan so only have data when on WiFi. After the APP is installed does the phone need access to data in order to operate the air bags? Thanks

Hey Denzil. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags w/ Easy Mount Compressor item # F36XV is definitely going to be compatible with your 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 and your B&W gooseneck hitch. So long as your leveling kit was limited to the front end there won't be any compatibility issues.

I linked the installation instructions below for the Firestone item # F36XV. The brackets attach where your factory bump stop sits. I recommend taking a look at your rear suspension just to confirm there was nothing added when the leveling kit was installed that would interfere.

The compressor included with the Firestone item # F36XV uses Bluetooth to communicate with an app on your phone. You won't need a data plan to use the app with the compressor.

What make and model is your livestock trailer?

Hey Denzil, how did things go with the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags and your Silverado’s setup? Did the brackets line up fine with your suspension and B&W gooseneck hitch? Your update could make it easier for others working with a similar leveling kit.

@JerredH Finally had time to install over the weekend. Everything fit fine except for the mounting bracket for the ECU and compressor. Only spots on the frame it would fit without modification was either under the regular cab where it might get mud or debris from the front tire or between the bed and cab where it would be exposed to the weather. Had to make the plate mount over top of the bracket welded to the frame that the bed bolts down to so that the ECU and compressor are completely under the bed. After everything was hooked up and opened the APP it showed that the compressor was missing. A little tip for anyone else before taking time to check for voltage and the ground on the compressor just unplug the ECU and plug it back in while the APP is open.
