Question:
I am looking for a rooftop ac and heat unit for a transit van. I would prefer a 12v system, but can do 110v if necessary 9 I am adding an inverter to the build. This is for a Hostage negotiation van for a police department, so it needs to be as quiet as possible. What are my options? Thanks

Hey Jason. The 12v AC systems we have do not include a heat function. Our quietest option, is the Velit 2000R RV AC item # VE77QV in white or item # VE87QV. These are 8,000 btu systems that operate between 45dB and 58dB on the outside. I've stood inside a van with one of these running at full blast and it sounds like a quiet fan. It'll be perfect for intense phone conversations.
The Velit 2000R RV AC item # VE77QV in white or item # VE87QV come with everything you need to get up and running including a convenient remote. They fit a standard 14" x 14" cutout.
If you end up adding an inverter and setting the van up for 110v, I recommend the Xtreme Heaters Electric Space Heater item # XH24FR. This is a plug in space heater specifically designed for RV's. It has a 750 watts - 1,500 watts range so it'll do a great job of heating up your van on a cool or freezing cold day. It measures a compact 10" long x 10-1/4" wide x 4-3/4" tall and weighs only 5 lbs.

Hey Jason, how did the Velit 2000R end up working out for your Transit van build? I’m curious if the noise level stayed low enough during your operations. Your feedback could really help others needing a quiet setup like yours.
