Flat Tow Lighting Options For A 2026 Jeep Wrangler Sport S

Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 01/27/2026

Question:

I think I want to install additional lights on my 2026 Wrangler Sport S that will be powered from my motorhome when flat towing. I want to avoid any changes whatsoever to the Wrangler OEM wiring configuration. I would like to find LED lights to mount permanently below the OEM taillights. I will install the Petersen bullet side marker / turn signal lights in the front fenders and would like to find something similar but red and maybe bigger for the back. Any suggestions?

Hello Gene, thanks for reaching out. If you are looking for a permanent, non-invasive flat tow lighting solution for your Wrangler, our best option for that is the Curt Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # C96JR. This plugs in directly behind the taillights and plugs into a 4-flat plug on the motorhome. That way you can get your vehicle lights working in tandem with the RV lights without cutting or splicing the vehicles harness at all.

Aside from that, we do have wireless magnetic lights like the Custer Wireless LED Tow Light Bar # LIW-LDTL-7B. This is a light bar you can throw on the roof and it uses a wireless transmitter that plugs into the RV 7-way socket.

We don't have any lights that would install permanently on the Jeep, so those would be our best, least-invasive options for adding flat tow lighting. We do have tail lights that could potentially be used for a custom job though. We have those Petersen bullet side markers in red # PET25PV and amber # PET85PV if you like the way those look. I have provided a link below that will show you our full selection of round taillights if you are looking for something specific.

What I typically recommend for flat tow wiring are Roadmaster diode kits like part # RM-15267. These work great and are super reliable, but it does require cutting the vehicles harness and splicing the diode in-line. They are totally safe to use and won't void any warranties or anything, just a bit more involved to install.

Hey Gene, how did things go with the Curt wiring kit on your Wrangler? I’m curious if it gave you the clean, non-invasive setup you were hoping for. Your feedback could really help others planning a similar flat tow lighting setup.
