Hey Andy! To add a third brake light to your trailer you will need the following:
-Curt 2-to-3 Tail Light Converter for Towed Vehicles w/ Incandescent Tail Lights # C56196
-Load Resistor Kit for LED Turn Signals # DI34ZR
The converter will isolate the brake signal so your light only activates with the brakes, not the turn signals. Since this is designed for incandescent lights you will also need to add in the resistors so it works properly. Some customers have had success by pulling power from the left and right tail light with the converter as well, but I would go ahead and use resistors just to be sure.
The only other thing you need is an actual light like the Thinline LED Trailer Tail Light # STL64RB or Optronics LED Trailer Tail Light # STL78RB. What kind of trailer do you have?

I bought the 2 wire to 3 wire converter. Worked perfectly on the bench. Was doing weird things when connected to my 2014 Ram. This truck uses a computer for the tail lights. It didn't like the converter box. I don't think I tried load resistors. The lights were LED.
