Will Torflex Lift Kit K71-724-02 Fit 1997 4-Star Horse Trailer With Torflex Torsion Axles?

Updated 12/16/2025 | Published 12/15/2025

Question:

I am looking for lift kit for my 1997 4-Star horse trailer. The trailer uses duel Torflex torsion axles, but I cant find which size axles they use. The trailer is rated for 14350 lbs GVWR and 6084lbs per axle. I found this kit https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Suspension-Parts/Dexter/K71-724-02.html for a similar 4-star trailer thats a little smaller but wanted to see if this would also work for my trailer or if I need something different. Thanks in advance!

Hey Sean, thanks for reaching out. We may have a lift kit for you but the best way to determine exactly what kit to use will be to measure the distance between the mounting holes on your axle. The # K71-724-02 kit you were looking at fits axles with bolts spaced 9-1/2" apart on center. Check the mounting holes on your axle and see if this matches. If not, just let me know and I am happy to look into it and see if we have anything for you.

Hey Jesse, I really appreciate the fast response! I took some measurements a few weeks ago and it looks like my holes are spaced about 9.5” apart so it looks like the option you sent me will work. I’ll go ahead and get them ordered, thanks again for the help!

@SeanM Ok perfect sounds like the # K71-724-02 will work for your axles then! Let me know how the install goes. Or if anything else ever comes up, you know where to find me!

I have used these lift kits twice. I loved them and would use them again. I upgraded to a very heavy 5th wheel.... so not gonna try to get any higher if that make sense! Good luck.

@Dave Hey Dave, thanks for the feedback! That does make sense. Most 5th wheels are already equipped with overslung axles so the deck height is already raised basically. Glad to hear the Torflex lift kits worked out for you though. Thanks again for taking the time to share!
