Is it possible to run a cargo box on one side and a bike rack on the other? I really like the idea of mixing gear.

Expert Reply:
Hey there Ray; yes you can mix a cargo box and a bike rack on the Benton cargo rack system for 2" hitches # B42FR. This setup has a lot of versatility with 2 pairs of crossbars to support full-size accessories like cargo boxes, bike trays, and ski racks.
The fixed front and rear bars run front-to-back and are great for shorter accessories or a cargo box like # B44FR, but they aren’t always long enough for bike trays so you'd want to mount the bike tray left to right instead of inline with the vehicle.
So your mixed setup would look like this:
Cargo box like # B44FR and bike rack like # RKY1222 both mounted side by side on the left/right crossbars so that your equipment is running side to side, not front to back. See the attached photo.
As long as your total weight stays under the 300-lb capacity, and you are under the capacity of your vehicle's hitch, you'll be all set!
