Question:

I have a 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge This is an all electric vehicle, EV. I was wondering if you have a trailer-light kit for this car. I was reading the directions for the kit you have for the XC40, and it says to run a wire up to the engine compartment, which doesnt really apply to an EV.

Hey Rick,

We do have a hitch and wiring option for that XC40 Recharge. For the hitch I recommend the Curt # C82ZJ. This is a 2" hitch with a 600lb tongue weight capacity and 4,000lb towing capacity. Simple installation considering it is a no drill install!

The wiring harness to pair with it would be the Curt # C56355. It is a plug and play harness that you would still need to run power to a battery. I did some research on that vehicle and there is a main battery under the car, as well as a 12v battery under the hood. You would need to run it to that battery to power the harness.

What are you planning on using the hitch for?

Thanks for the reply to my question. We have a small tent trailer that I would like to tow as well as a bike rack. I will do some investigation and see if I can determine a good path to run the wire for 12 volt to the tail lights.

@RickS That is awesome, I have actually been looking at some tent trailers. I will say with as many wiring harnesses I have installed, an easy route is usually not found. That is the hardest part about the install. I would recommend some zip ties, they help keep it up along the frame instead of just hanging free.
