Question:

I’m planning to install this hitch myself on my 2020 Crosstrek. Do I have to the exhaust like other hitches require?

Hey Paul! The TowSmart 2" Hitch # TS68ZR is one of the easier installs out there (4 out of 10 as far as difficulty goes, and about 40 minutes). You could lower the exhaust temporarily for extra clearance, but most people manage without dropping it down. Check out the installation video I've attached which shows the install being completed without touching the exhaust or hangers at all. It's a pretty simple install using fishwired carriage bolts and spacers that go through the access holes. You will, however, need to enlarge the factory access holes a little bit for the hardware to fish through.

Once everything’s torqued to 110 ft-lbs, you’re all set! If you’ll be towing, grab the universal 4-way wiring kit # 119147KIT and ball mount kit # 989891 - that’ll cover your light trailer hookups and ball sizes.
