Ever been trapped by your own gear? You roll up to camp ready to relax with a cold beverage, but your bike rack stands between you and a cooler full of well-earned drinks. The Swagman Swivel allows you to open up the rear without unloading your gear.
You're all packed up, the family is squeezed into the adventure-mobile, and just as you throw it into drive you spot that pile of last-minute essentials still sitting in the driveway. You could try the old "chuck it over the seats and hope for the best" method, but let's be real, someone's getting a flying duffel to the face. Enter the Swagman Swivel hitch adapter. Instead of unloading half your setup just to crack open the back, this clever contraption lets you swing your gear out of the way, left or right, whichever works for you. Because the only thing that should be flying around your car is good road trip music, not your kid's sleeping bag.
Be sure to confirm hitch compatibility and weight limits before installation.

I got it quick. I put it on myself with help from my husband who is disabled from a stroke. It was rather heavy but I got it on there . I like that you can swing it from passenger or driver side
Just a baddass addition to my 3rd gen 4runner. Thank U!

Rock on! That's what we love to hear, Daryl. What rack are you using with this swing away?
Easy to install. Love the bonus, I can open my hatch without lowering wheel carrier.
Well made, heavy I’m not worried that it will sag when open.
I’m using it with a cargo carrier for my camper truck and I’ll have about 300 lbs of gear in the carrier.
So far so good
Built like a fireplug! Perfect on the back of our RAM Van for holding custom-built (DIY) rack that fits two Hase delta-trikes.
Works great
Good, sturdy, except there is no stability feature for whatever you insert into its receiver.
E-trailer is great
Impressed with the swing out so far, rock solid and no movement. I was focused in on the left or right swing model when researching as my needs vary depending on the vehicle I’m using with. Note that it will swing out more than 90 degrees, this was an added bonus for my truck camper setup, the only locking point is at 90.
The swivel works and is solid, the anti rattle device leaves a bit to be desired, it was hard to keep from twisting on my factory fork hitch so I dimpled my hitch using a die grinder and that seemed to resolve the alignment
Really strong and well built. Easy to install. Very impressed with the packaging. No way it would get damaged.
The hinge has a lot of play so you have to really lift the rack and bikes to get it closed. It really needs a ball or wedge to secure it in the hitch instead of relying on the anti rattle hitch pin. I'll be replacing it.
I have the product installed and it looks robust. With one bike loaded on a bike rack the hinge does not close well.....you have to lift up a bit on the end of the hitch bar to get it to slide back into locking position. This tells me that one loaded bike strains and deforms the assembly a bit. I worry what two bikes will do. So that is one concern. Also, the product does not come with a locking hitch pin. It comes with a cotter pin hitch pin. Because every single customer will want a locking hitch pin to prevent theft of what is otherwise a $[XX] product, it should be included with the product. I would happily pay an upcharge for the locking hitch pin but, by not including it, or not including it as an option, I have to shop and pursue the locking hitch pin in a separate cycle of action, as a separate transaction. To me, this unbundling is bad form, and not customer centric.
Extremely well made. Welds are nicely executed, paint is flawless and as noted by another reviewer, packaging is the best I've seen on a large item. This item is appropriately heavy and for some it may require some assistance from another person to install. One minor complaint; the main mounting threaded bolt could be less reduced in diameter and drilled for the addition of a padlock rather than a clip. A spare threaded bolt would also be a thoughtful addition. I would wholeheartedly recommend this product to others and etrailer.com to provide it.
It works well but I think the 300 pound limit may be a tad optimistic. I have it loaded with ~220 pounds and the swing arm droops some in the open position. You have to lift the load onto the locking bracket when closing the swing arm. This is facilitated by the slippery plastic pad on the locking bracket. I was able to take out some of the droop by shortening the hitch tube of the luggage basket I use. Snugging the basket up (about 5 inches) to the swing arm receiver appeared to reduce the torque on the truck receiver when the swing arm is in the open position. The locking pin and locking clamp are rock solid and ensure the swing arm load is firmly locked in the travel position. I like the concept and would buy it again knowing what I now know 2000 miles into using the swing arm.
It appears to be very well made. One star off for terrible instructions - the drawings of the anti-wobble device didn't match the actual item, and it didn't even state when to actually place the swivel into the vehicle's hitch. Swagman could take some lessons from Ikea - please. Also, the locking mechanism is very close to impinging on the threaded bolt for the bike rack. Other than these issues, I think this hitch adapter will work very well.
This is heavy I have no doubt it can carry the rated load. I can see how people might be tempted to overload it a possibly damage there hitch.
So far it appears very rugged. Only issue I have is with the threaded hitch pin lock as I cannot fit it on my 2024 sprinter hitch as the 7way plug is in the way.
Very well made and works perfectly on my Winnebago Travato.

Man! That looks like an awesome set up. Are you somewhere near water? Could be a great spot for a bike ride!
I love this. I can use it for cargo and open my van doors. It's easy to install.
Perfect for my bike rack with extender behind the slide on camper. Wanted it to extend to drivers side.
I test fit this hitch after it arrived, bikes and all. I could not be more pleased with the sturdiness and quality of construction, the ease of operation and smoothness with which this hitch operates is amazing. Fits great with my Swagman e-bike holder.
Arrive on time as usual. Well packaged, great swing out hitch for my dirt bike. Hitch is high quality and well engineered.
Works as advertised, only thing that keeps it from being 5 Stars is when trying to put the lock pin in place with two e-bikes on the racks it can be pretty difficult.

That's a nice shot you sent! What kind of summer traveling plans do you have with your bikes?
A Must for any Hiker Trailer Owner
Let me first start off by stating that this is a well-built product that has exceeded my expectations; this is a “Bulletproof Beast”. After it arrived and I opened the box, I will say that I have never received anything, in its size/weight category, that was packaged so perfectly. In regard to fit and function, the Swagman Swivel Hitch Extender (S86SR) is a must for anyone who owns a Hiker Trailer that frequents Harvest Host. It is the only one on the market, after extensive research, that allows me to open the rear Galley Door without removing anything attached to the rear hitch (e.g. bike rack, cargo tray, etc.). It also provides the flexibility to either open toward the passenger or drivers side.
I would highly recommend this product whether you are a weekend adventurer or a full-fledged “Road Warrior”.

Sorry to hear about your husbands stroke Bonnie, I am glad he is still able to get around and help though =) It is heavy, but that is because it is built to last. What do you mainly use the swing away for, what are you transporting?
