Is B and W Companion Slider Hitch for Ford Pucks Best Slider Hitch

Updated 12/08/2025 | Published 11/15/2025

Question:

I would like to know if the BandW Companion sliding 5th wheel hitch will slide with the weight of the fifth wheel on the pin. I have heard that some users of this hitch have to remove some of the pin weight to get it to slide. Does this hitch have many complaints on hitch noise while towing banging/clanging I currently have a 2015 F250 with the Curt A16 slider. it slides well with weight on the pin but the darn thing make ALL kinds of noise. its 7 years old and tow a lot I am updating my tow vehicle to a 2026 F-Series and would like to update hitch also. I dont really want to use an auto-slider. thanks for your input.

Hey Shawn, the B and W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3370 that fits the OEM pucks of your 2026 Ford F-250 does not require having the pin weight of the trailer off of the hitch for the slider to work. This by far one of the nicest hitches you can get and the slider mechanism is going to work great without requiring any extra steps. This will be a big upgrade over the Curt you have now.

My guess would be that if someone had to have the pin weight removed their hitch was bound up somehow and the slider mechanism just wasn't working like it should.

What fifth wheel trailer do you have? Have you ever considered a pivoting pin box like a Sidewinder so that you could get away with a fixed hitch?

Hey Shawn, how did things go with the B&W Companion Slider on your new F-Series? Did it slide smoothly under load and cut down on the hitch noise you were getting with the Curt? Your update could make it easier for others comparing these two hitches.
