Looking For Stronger Trailer Hitch For 2015 Cougar 33RBK 5th Wheel

Updated 11/07/2025 | Published 11/04/2025

Question:

Hi There.. Im looking to install a stronger hitch on the back of my 2015 Cougar 33RBK 5th Wheel. Im currently using the bumper square bumper on the trailer for 2 ebikes and an ebike rack ~230lbs total. Do you have any suggestions that may work?

Hello Rene, thanks for reaching out. We do have a universal frame mounted hitch that may work on your 2015 Cougar 33RBK 5th Wheel. Take a look at the following:

Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703

This hitch has adjustable flanges allowing it to fit frames between 22" and 72" wide. It can be bolted or welded on to a box frame, C-channel frame of I-beam frame. The tongue weight capacity is 350 lbs so more than enough for your e-bike rack and bikes.

I have included a few pictures with detailed dimensions for your reference. The hitch has a few inches of drop built in to help clear the bumper. Please compare this to the frame of your camper and make sure everything lines up on your end.

Let me know if you have any questions on this, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hi Jesse thanks for this.. I think I'm going to give this a try. Just one thing, however, I'm seeing this same hitch on Amazon for a$100 less.. I do want to buy from Etrailer, but $100 is kind of a big difference. Anything that can be done here? If not, I understand.. Rene G

@ReneG Nooooo don't go to the jungle website! Its scary in the jungle, and you can get lost in there without a guide lol. Kidding! Ill shoot straight with you Rene, I wish there was something I could do about that price, but there isn't. It can be hard for us as a smaller family-owned business to compete with the jungle website on some of this stuff. I will tell you this: their customer service is basically non-existent. Here at etrailer there will always be a real person for you to talk to. If you ever need help finding the right parts or need questions answered, we have a whole team of experts here dedicated to helping out, answering technical questions and solving problems. Its what we do. Also we offer free shipping without the need for a subscription service for what that's worth. I totally get it about the price difference though. I am still here to assist regardless of where you decide to purchase from. I'll let it slide just this once haha!

@JesseM Understand!!! I do appreciate Etrailer!! I have another question, however (Yes I'll probably buy from Etrailer) assuming the hitch will work. I measure 5.5" from the bottom of my I-beam to under the existing bumper. I've seen other customers having to cut into the square bumper to make a hitch work. I would rather not do that, but will if I have to.. Looking at the diagram, the 2"receiver is only 3" below the I-beam on this hitch, do I read that correctly? thank you for your help.. R

@Rene Yes you are reading that right. It is 3" from the top of the receiver tube/crosstube to the part of the flange that bolts to the I-beam. Sounds like the bumper may have to be modified for this to clear.
