Question:

i am interested in a stromberg carlson accessory hitch for a shasta airflyte retro travel trailer. the width works but i am looking for the front to back dimensions on the hitch along with the from the top of the cross bar. lastly the plate dimensions. also do you know of others that may have used this on a similar travel trailer.

The receiver tube of the Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver # SC45MR is going to stick out 4-11/16" past the crossmember and since both tubes are 2" x 2" the height from the bottom of the receiver tube to the top of the crossmember would be 4". The flat brackets on the end of the adjustable crossmember tubes are 7-1/4" x 3" while the angled brackets are 7-1/4" x 2".

Because this hitch essentially needs to be welded in order to bear a decent amount of weight it's not a popular option. Just bolting it on will only give you 200lbs with no towing capacity. If you know you'll stay under this amount then it's fine but most people want the extra capacity.

A hitch like the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13704 is a bit more popular since it has a 500lb tongue weight capacity and is still bolt on. This hitch fits 22" to 66" frame widths so we would need to know exactly what yours is before picking out the best hitch option for your 2015 Shasta Airflyte Travel Trailer.
