Question:
Do the 7K Dexter ABS brakes work with any brake controller, or do I need something special for Tow Assist?
asked by: Brian
Expert Reply:
Brian, you’ll want an inertia-based proportional controller for best results. Time-delay controllers will function, but they pulse the ABS system too frequently. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3, Redarc Tow-Pro Elite, and Curt TriFlex are all tested and fully compatible with Dexter’s Tow Assist system on your 7K ABS brakes left side # DX69WR / right side # DX79WR.
If you’re using your truck’s factory integrated controller from Ford, GM, or Ram - those typically work fine, too.
