Meyer WingMan ME35FR: Using It on Gravel or Mixed Surfaces

Question:
Can I use the Meyer WingMan on gravel, or is it only for pavement?

Mark, you can definitely run the Meyer WingMan # ME35FR on gravel - it just takes a light touch. Since this is a commercial-grade hydraulic snow plow for trucks, it doesn’t use adjustable skid shoes like the residential HomePlows. Instead, you control the “float” through the hydraulic lift system and it stays exactly where you want it. The electric models just use gravity to rest the plow on the ground instead of hovering like the hydraulic ones.
On unpaved lots, lower the blade until it just touches the surface, then tap the control to lift it about half an inch. That keeps the 26-inch steel cutting edge from digging in and throwing rock while still moving snow cleanly.
If you’re clearing a mix of gravel and paved areas, the WingMan’s dual hydraulic cylinders and quick-lift control make it easy to fine-tune the height between surfaces.
How’s your setup? Is it mostly rural gravel or a mix of driveways and small lots?
