Question:

I need to replace the electric hitch jack on my 8.5x16 enclosed trailer. I have an extended hitch and when I my tailgate it still hits the the hitch. Is there a jack better designed to for clearance?

Hello Cash, thanks for reaching out. You are needing an A-frame jack, correct? We do have a good option for you, but there is not anything specifically designed for tailgate clearance. That said, I recommend the following:

- etrailer Electric Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 3,500 lbs # e23ZV

This is a 3.5K rated electric jack. It has a waterproof switch, LED light, and a manual backup option.

As far as tailgate clearance, you can try rotating the jack 120 degrees to see if that helps the tailgate clear the housing. I have heard of this helping with clearance in some cases. If not, you will just have to disconnect the trailer before dropping the tailgate.

@JesseM What is the dimensional difference between e23ZV and e79GV and how wide are they at the top? I found a the picture showing dimensions of the e79GV but not the other one.

@Cash So both jacks are pretty similar in size as far as the top of the jack. The housing on both is approximately 5-1/2" wide x 7-1/2" deep x 7-1/2" tall. The only real noteworthy difference is the overall height, and the amount of total lift.
