Will MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box MR64VR Fit My Camper And Help Reduce Chucking?

Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 09/26/2025

Question:

Looking for a cushioned pin box to fit 2012 Rockwood ultra lite 5th wheel 8265WS with a Reese Revolution pin box and Anderson hitch to reduce severe “chucking/jerking” that occurs on certain road conditions - seems to be a vertical bouncing that happens at certain speeds and bumpy road conditions. I added air bags to my truck but only saw a slight improvement. Would this MoRyde pin box fit and would it resolve my issue?

Hello Charles, thanks for reaching out. Adding a cushioned pin box like the MORryde # MR64VR will help to reduce some of the chucking and jerking. We will just need to determine the size/bolt pattern of the pin box currently on your camper. There is no way to look up your camper to determine this, since RV manufacturers do not list this kind of information online.

Is there a sticker on the current pin box you can see? It will usually show the part number or serial number, and sometimes it will show the pin box bolt pattern. If not, I can have my contact at Lippert run the SN to determine the size.

For example, the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box # MR64VR replaces the Lippert 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes. Once we know what pin box you have now, we will know if this is correct or not. Let me know.

For some reason I can’t paste a photo here….the Lippert part number is 277321. The serial number is 019-000384417. Chassis Mfg date is 10/3/2011.

@CharlesW So that comes back as a Reese 10K sidewinder which has been discontinued. Sadly, Lippert cannot look that one up to find the pin box size. Only Reese would be able to do that. I will send this info over to my contact at Reese but I will tell you they are notorious for being hard to get ahold of and never replying. If you don't want to wait around for them, we do have one other way to find out what you need. You can use the measuring guide in the link I provided. Basically you measure the bolt spacing and compare it to the chart. The 1621 pin box is the most common size, but there are others out there. Let me know what you come up with. I will post back in here if/when I hear back from Reese. Don't hold your breath though.

Thanks…..it indeed is a Reese Revolution but the configuration doesn’t seem to match any in the templates you sent. There is only 1 horizontal row of mounting bolt holes for the pin box on each side and only 2 bolts on each side with 1 1/4” heads spaced about 9 1/2” apart. Pin box width is about 10”. Dimension from king pin to front bolt is about 18”. Do you have any options?

@Charles So I did hear back from Reese and they confirmed what I was afraid of. Basically, your Reese Revolution 10K hitch is a factory fit that is not offered in a replaceable aftermarket option. The smaller width and mounting style are unique to that model. So sadly, we do not have a pin box replacement to offer you. At this point, the only other thing I can think of for reducing chucking would be to do away with the Andersen hitch and use a 5th wheel hitch. Many of them hare rotating heads and some kind of built-in provision for shock absorption. What truck do you have? Is it prepped for a 5th wheel hitch?
