Will PullRite SuperGlide Hit Tailgate on 2025 GMC Sierra 2500

Updated 03/25/2025 | Published 03/01/2025

Question:

I have a 2025 sierra denali 2500hd standard bed with the puck system. Im purchasing a 2025 cougar 29rli. Ive been told that if I use the pullrite 4500 autoslide hitch there is a possibility that it may come into contact with the tailgate, or have clearance issues. Should I be concerned at all, I thought that using the autoslide was the best way to go.

Hey Steve! The PullRite SuperGlide # PUL83RR will not contact the tailgate on your 2025 GMC Sierra 2500. They have tested this extensively and said making contact and causing damage is not a concern. This is a really great hitch and autoslide is the way to go. One thing you will need to do is identify the pin box on your 2025 Cougar 29RLI since a capture plate is required for this 5th wheel hitch. Once you have identified it you can choose from the following:

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for 13-1/4" Lippert 1621/1116/1716 Pin Boxes # PUL46RR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for 13-5/8" Curt/Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Boxes # PUL38RR

-Pullrite Capture Plate for Lippert 0719 5th Wheel Pin Boxes # PUL76VR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for Curt/Trailair Flex Air Pin Boxes # PUL98RR

-Gen-Y Capture Plate for PullRite 5th Wheel Sliding Hitches # GY98FR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for MORryde Cushioned Pin Boxes # PUL76RR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for 13-3/8" Curt/Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Boxes # PUL26RR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for 12-3/4" Wide Lippert 1621 Pin Box # PUL96RR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for 12" Wide Fabex Pin Boxes # PUL66RR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for Reese 5th Airborne Pin Boxes # PUL58RR

-PullRite SuperGlide Quick Connect Capture Plate for Lippert Helux Pin Boxes # PUL68MR

If you have a Lippert Turning Point, Sidewinder, or MORryde Orbital king pin you will need to lockout the pin box and use the Pullrite Rotational Pin Box Wedge # PUL86RR.

If you aren't sure what you have you can send me a picture of the sticker on your pin box and I will find out for you. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.

Thanks for the response. But just to clarify, I didn't mean to suggest that the slide would contact the tailgate, but rather the pinbox on the rv itself. I've been led to believe that there may be issues with clearance of certain pinboxs/rv's

@SteveD I don't expect that to be a problem either as long as everything is properly adjusted. If the pin box is hitting you either need to raise up the 5th wheel hitch or lower your pin box so you have the proper clearance. This is true for any 5th wheel hitch setup.

@RobinH Does the slider actually have adjustment for height? I have one in my 2015 Chevy 2500HD with the cross rails. I just purchased a 2025 GMC AT4 with the prep package. I am wondering since I dont have the cross rails will the hitch sit lower in the bed with the puck ssystem and if so how do you raise the hitch?

@JeffV the # PUL83RR sits at 18-3/8" so if it isn't high enough you will have to adjust the pin box. Are you using the SuperGlide from your 2015? Is it the PullRite SuperGlide # PUL63RR (2900)? If you have that on ISR rails you can adapt it to fit the puck system on your new truck with the # PUL69RR which would add some height.
