Upgrade the factory pin box on your fifth-wheel trailer to this cushioned model that dampens road shock and reduces back-and-forth chucking for a more relaxed towing experience. Unlike air bags, the internal rubber spring requires no maintenance.

Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to. And because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an internal air bag like some other upgraded pin boxes, there's no maintenance required.
Although this pin box can tow up to 18,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 11,501 to 14,000 lbs. A rubber spring built for 18,000-lb trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 11,500-lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 11,500-lb trailers would be too flexible for a 18,000-lb trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 11,501-lb to 14,000-lb range.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert 1621HD pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old Lippert pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by the factory pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.

While not yet installed thought it worth commenting on the experience thus far - in a word “excellent”. Package was well packaged, the transporter was awesome and kept us informed of his delivery schedule, given the weight of the shipment.

This cushioned pin box is definitely worth the upgrade. Chucking is greatly reduced (There's no getting totally away from it) and the frequency of the chucking is tempered making the ride much more pleasant. There are times when you forget your towing it's so smooth on decent stretches of road. Delivery was quick (3 days early as a matter of fact) and driver dropped it in my garage. Plus the fitment was perfect, bolted on with no problem. Entire experience was good !!

So far this is a welcome upgrade. Took it on a short trip over some rough road that normally triggers chucking on my F-250. This pinbox prevented it which was a welcome change. I’m looking forward to some longer trips.
Installation was straightforward. Removed the old pinbox which was fairly easy. Installing the new pinbox would’ve been a challenge had my buddy not had a forklift attachment for his tractor. I don’t know the exact difference in weight between the old Lippert pinbox and the new Moryde, but it is substantially heavier. I’d say 2 people muscling and one to install the hardware would still be a challenge. Forklift or similar is the way to go. Also, the new pinbox doesn’t come with new hardware. Got to use your old or make a trip to Lowe’s/Home Depot.
All and all I’m happy with the upgrade, but I thought it was pricey and don’t like the additional weight.

With Christmas and New Years next week, I won’t have the opportunity to install it until after the New Year.
This pin box arrived on time and the box was in very good condition. The freight company used their lift gate to put the pallet into the bed of my pickup. That made it possible for this 63 year old to uninstall the old and install the new single handedly.
My main complaint with the old pin box was chucking. I’ve now towed more than a thousand miles with the Morryde. While the chucking has improved it has not been eliminated. I would say it has been reduced about 50%. Bridge abutments are less harsh. Concrete roadway gallop much improved. A significant improvement but not what I had hoped for based on other reviews.
I have had this pin box before on other campers and loved it so when we got our new camper this was the first upgrade that I wanted.
A tip to an easy install, lock it in your hitch first then back it right into your camper. I shored up the head with a 2x4.

The MORryde Pin box has performed flawlessly and has made significant difference in our ride and towing. We tow tofrom Florida from Canada, the pin box has made the trip so much nicer and smoother
