Is Anything Needed to Change from 1,000W Inverter to Progressive Dynamics 1800W Inverter?

Updated 09/24/2025 | Published 09/20/2025

Question:

I need to replace our WF5110RS inverter. It is a 1000w pure sine inverter with automatic transfer switch. I would like to upgrade and am thinking of going with the PD64FR. I am also swapping my batteries and will be using two 100AH Battleborn LifPo batteries. Do you have any guidance to offer that would help make this change a smooth process? Thank you!

Hey Ed!

To make this change a smooth process, you'll want to make sure you upgrade the wire gauge from the Progressive Dynamics 1800 Watt Inverter # PD44FR to your battery to make sure it can handle the extra power.

I'm attaching a clip from the installation instructions that shows what the correct gauge wire is for your reference.

Do you plan on installing this yourself, or are you planning on having a tech do it for you?

Thanks Jon, The battery will be about three feet from the inverter and I’ll use #1 AWG for the connection (install myself).

@JonG One more question please - I just noticed you commented about using a PD44FR inverter, but I had originally stated I was planning to use a PD64FR. My reason for the PD64 - it has a transfer switch rated at 30amp, which is the same as my trailer's shore power rating. The PD44 has a 20amp spec for the transfer switch, and I wasn't sure if my 30amp shore power input would be too much for the switch, or if the switch would limit the input to 20amp? Can you please clarify? Thanks!

@Ed The Progressive Dynamics 2000 Watt Inverter # PD64FR is rated for 30A so you'll be just fine!
