Can this cover be used in a partially retracted position if for example I wanted to keep the front of the bed covered when towing with a 5th wheel?

Hey Lars. The Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover item # 311-SWD7833 can only be full retracted. If you want a cover the can be partially retracted when you're using a 5th wheel hitch like item #BWRVK3600 you'll want the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover item # RT80232.
Both the Pace Edwards item # 311-SWD7833 and the RetraxPRO item # RT80232 fits the 2017 Ram 2500 with a 6-1/2' bed and no RamBoxes.
