Will Rhino Rack Nautic 581 Fit Top Channels of OEM Bars of 2022 Mazda CX-30

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/02/2025

Question:

To try and avoid fitment issues, I ordered genuine Mazda cross bars for my 2022 Mazda CX-30 that has roof rails installed. These cross bars are the channel type bars. I was not able to find specs showing the width of these bars and they are at least 2/34inch wide and therefore will not fit the Swagman saddle style clamp on kayak rack that I ordered here. Ill be returning this rack and would like to now order the channel-mount Rhino-rack Nautic 581, saddle style rack. I do not see the specs as to the measurement of the channel itself, but see in the installation manual that it uses an m6 30mm T-bolt. I am not sure what the width of the Tinch is on this bolt, but my Mazda cross bars channel is 20mm at the bottom of the channel and 10mm at the top of the channel. I feel as though the M6 t-bolt that comes with the Rhino rack will slip through my bars channel. Do you have a t-bolt that will work with the channel in my Mazda cross bars for the Rhino rack? Thanks for any help you can provide. Jake

Hey Jake, you probably already have had your Rhino-Rack Nautic 581 Kayak Roof Rack # RR581 show up and have test fit it but the T-bolts of this rack are the size that the top channels of your 2022 Mazda CX-30 have so this rack would work for you. Have you had a chance to install the rack and use it yet?

Hey Jake, did you get a chance to install the Rhino-Rack Nautic 581 on your Mazda and try it out? I'm curious to know how it worked for you, as it could help others with similar setups.

@JamesonC Yes! The T- bolts that were included with the Rino rack fit the Mazda cross bars great! No problems. Easy too install. The rack is excellent. I've used it several times now and I'm glad I chose this rack. The straps that are provided are good quality, providing a secure, confident fastening of the kayak to rack. I've driven on the highway for 40 minutes and down gravel roads without any issues. Really like the rear pads lined with felt allowing the kayak to slide forward to the front pads. Recommend this rack highly for those that only need one kayak on the roof.
