Can 2023 RAV4 Tow A 1,200lb Trailer? What Is The Towing Capacity?

I have a small utility trailer I pull occasionally, about 1,200 lbs loaded. Will the Trailer Mate be fine for that on my 2023 RAV4, or is it more of a bike-rack-only hitch?

Sharon, you’re well within the Trailer Mate’s # TMT54FR 3,500-lb towing and 350-lb tongue weight ratings. Keep in mind the RAV4 towing capacities range anywhere from 1500-3500 lbs based on trim and packages, so you'll want to check your owner's manual or check with Toyota so you don't overload your RAV!

All that being said, you will have a great setup for your 1,200-lb trailer setup. It’s marketed as a budget-friendly option for everyday gear, but it’s still fully capable of light towing like you’re planning, just double-check your RAV4’s own tow limit, since Toyota’s rating is the ultimate cap as I mentioned.
