Question:
Hello, I have recently purchased, from Etrailer, for my 2021 Grand Design Reflection 303 RLS, four new leaf springs E94SR, two new spring hangers E4139 My rear ones broke, the upgrade shackle kit MR46ZR, the Moryde X-Factor Cross Member MR33WR, and two U-bolt kits APUBR-8. I removed and replaced the spring hangers in the exact original location. My existing springs were flattenedinch from apparent overweight / under-sized, so I went back with 6000 lb leaf springs my axle capacity is 5100 lbs. I ordered the new springs based on the measurement of the old springs, which were obviously deformed. The new installation went great, but the springs appear too long, as they have the Moryde All Trek 4000 looking crowded, to a point where it does not look like it will function properly. See attached pictures Im thinking the answer is shorter springs. Id also like advice regarding spring weight capacity. Please advise, and thank you very much!

Hi Gary; the shackle straps should look more like a "W" with your AllTrek # MR29DR. It does look like they're pushed in a little too far towards the center. Have you driven on it since installing? Sometimes they can look off but will fix themselves once you do a little driving. Otherwise as you already said, it is likely because the leaf springs are too long. The 6k capacity leaf springs won't be overkill for your setup so that is enough of an upgrade to help them hold up a little better without impacting ride quality.
Do you still have your old leaf springs? What you can do is measure the flat length on them since that never changes. This would be "B" in the attached photo. The same measurement on the 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles # e34SR you ordered is 13-1/3". If you already got rid of the old leaf springs you can probably get the original leaf spring length from Dexter using your axle tag serial number.

Hey Gary, have you had a chance to drive your trailer since installing the new leaf springs? I'm curious if the springs adjusted themselves after some use, or if you decided to go with shorter springs. Your experience could really help others facing a similar setup challenge.
