Can Yakima SkyBox NX Skinny Cargo Box Be Installed With One Person?
Published 08/05/2025 >
Question:
Can I install the SkyBox NX Skinny on my own, or do I need help? I’m 58inch and drive a Toyota RAV4.

Brian, at 41 lbs, the NX Skinny Roof Box # Y93QD is light enough for many folks to install solo, especially on a mid-height vehicle like your RAV4.
That said, because of the 84 inch length, it can be a little unwieldy to lift and center alone. A second set of hands makes it much easier, but if you're going solo, a folding step stool and a soft blanket over the roof can help protect your paint as you slide it into place. Once its on the bars, tool-free clamps make the rest of the install a breeze.
I've attached a demonstration video for you to check out.
How do you like the RAV4? I've heard great things about those vehicles.
