How Tall is the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit WS74ZR?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/03/2025

Question:

Hi, we have a 2024 Ford F350 truck with the standard ball. Our trailer is a 2012 Coachman Brookstone trailer. We have a GenY hitch shock. Unfortunately there is only about 3inch clearance between the bed rail of our truck and the bottom of the trailer. Can you tell me how much more clearance will this ball give us. Please provide the height measurement of the ball itself from top to bottom and also height of the ball that will stick out of the hole in the bed and any other measurements that you can.

Hey Denise. The top of the gooseneck ball on the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit item # WS74ZR is going to sit 8-3/4" from the lower ridges in your F-350's bed or 8-1/4" from the top of the taller ridges. The height of the ball is 10" tall from the ball bearings to the top of the hitch ball.

A standard gooseneck ball like the Curt item # C60627 has an installed height of 5-1/8". So you'll gain right at 3-5/8" of additional height. It's recommended to have a minimum of 6" of clearance above your bed side rails so using the item # WS74ZR will get you over that if you are at 3" now.

Do you have a short or long bed truck and does your F-350 have the full puck system or just a gooseneck hitch?

Hey Denise, did you find the additional clearance you needed with the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball? I'm asking because it could help others with similar clearance issues.
