Gen y hitch. Will this hitch work on a 2020 f250 4 door? It doesn’t have a long bed.

It is certainly possible for the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY58GR to work on your 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty short bed, but there are likely going to be clearance issues as these are meant for long bed trucks. That said, there is a way to determine the clearance, though you will first need to add a gooseneck hitch and offset hitch ball, which are the following:

- B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Custom Installation Kit # BWGNRK1116
- 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # BWGNXA4085

Then you will use the following formula to determine if you have enough clearance.

(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from the center of the gooseneck ball to the back of the truck cab
B = Length of offset (4")
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

If the clearance is 4 inches or more, you will be able to make a 90 degree turn with the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY58GR.

Otherwise, you will need to add a sliding fifth wheel hitch, and if you want a gooseneck as well, you can have both with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1116 I mentioned, as it also doubles as the base rails for the outstanding B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # BWRVK3400-5W.

The only other thing you would need if you don't have one is a gooseneck/5th wheel wiring harness, the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness for Aluminum Beds # C57008.
