Question:
How accurate are your towing ratings on these trailer hitches? Example for my KIA 2024 Sportage, there are at least 3 hitches and one has a higher tow rating but appears to be about the same design.

Thanks for your question, Mike!
All tow ratings for the products we carry come directly from the manufacturers. Each manufacturer performs their own testing to determine the specific rating they assign to their hitches. The hitches that we have available for your vehicle have tow ratings that range from 3500 lbs (part # C94WR) up to 4500 lbs (part # TS96VR).
With that said, you do need to always follow the tow rating of your vehicle. It looks like your Sportage is only rated for 2,500 lbs as long as the trailer you're towing is equipped with trailer brakes. If the trailer doesn't have brakes it would reduce the capacity to 1,653 lbs. You always want to go based off whatever is the weakest link regardless what the hitch is rated for. Not doing so could cause frame damage to your Kia.
Hope this information helps!
