What Size Hub Bore Does The AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K have?
Updated 08/11/2025 | Published 07/29/2025 >
Question:
I would like to find out what the outer hub size is where it mates to the hub bore of a rim for Part Number: AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K which I believe is part of the Part Number: e82GR axel kit.. It showed a Hub diameter: 6-1/4 which is the same as the Idler flange diameter: 6-1/4 which is incorrect.. I have 5x4.5 rims with 2-13/16 hub bores which are Chrysler standard so I dont know if they will fit.. The axel will be modified for use as an of road use yard trailer axel so as long as they bolt up the studs will certainly handle the weight.. Thank you for your time..

Hello Ray, thanks for reaching out. The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K goes with a 5 on 4-1/2" wheel with a standard 3.19" pilot hole.
For example, the Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20234 has a 3.19" pilot hole and will pair nicely with the hub you mentioned. It would not work with a 2-13/16" hub bore wheel.

Thanks for your time, I did buy an axel and hub kit that came with the 5 x 4-1/2 2,000 pound hubs.. I also did measure them and the answer I was looking for was 2.470 so roughly 2-1/2 inches or 63mm for the minimum rim bore.. I get your point that most light duty trailers can ride with the weight on the studs and lug nuts with little to no misalignment or worry of shearing one.. So yes a 2-1/2 inch hub fits in a 2-13/16 bore hole with plenty of room to spare.. I will just have to be mindful of often checking lug nut torque and making sure that when tightening I hand tighten the lugs and jiggle the rim to make sure the alignment is good.. They don't advise using adapter shims on steel wheels and since this is a low speed off road trailer use application I will live with the results..
