Roadmaster RM-676 Cable Will Not Stay Connected to RV 7-Way

Updated 08/01/2025 | Published 07/29/2025

Question:

I have the Roadmaster RM-676. When connecting the 7pin electrical connector to the coach it wont stay connected when pulled on. This is because the two tabs, one at the end of the cable and the other in the coach connector, dont go deep enough. With they cable fully pushed in the closest the alignment is on top of each other. The connector on the coach is original from the factory. Motorhome is a 2023 Coachmen Sportscoach.

Hello Dan, thanks for reaching out. I have never heard of this problem with the Roadmaster cables before so this makes me think the plug on your motorhome must be the culprit. There is no quick fix for this, so what I would do it try replacing it with a new plug like the Hopkins Endurance 7-Way Trailer Connector Socket # HM48480. These are known to work with the Roadmaster cables so with a new 7-way the connection should be much more secure.
