Is The DA75 Demco Drum Brake Actuator DM28CV Supposed To Be Bolted Or Welded On?

Question:
Is this a weld-on or bolt-on design?

Expert Reply:
Felicia, the Demco Hydraulic Drum Brake Actuator # DM28CV is designed as a bolt-on actuator. It mounts easily to 3inch wide trailer tongues using standard Grade 5 bolts (4-1/2" by 1/2", and it’s often a drop-in fit for replacing older actuators. Sometimes new holes need to be drilled in the trailer, but not always.
That said, you can certainly weld on the actuator/coupler if you really want to. It would just be more work, and also more difficult when replacing it down the road.

Hey Felicia, did you decide to go with the bolt-on installation for the Demco Brake Actuator, or are you considering welding it on instead? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could really help others in a similar situation.
