What is Difference Between Draw Tite Hitches 24979 and 24949

Hi Etrailer team, I am inquiring about the drawtite 24979 and 24949. I am seeing some contradicting information about the compatibility of these two hitches. Do you guys have any sort of part drawings that can be used to compare the dimensions of these two hitches? they look extremely similar and I would assume since they are both for Volkswagen Golfs its possible they are the same hitch marketed to two different generations of vehicle.

Hey Marshall, both hitches fit similar Volkswagen Golf vehicles but the difference is the versions of the Golf they fit. The part # 24949 fits:

2017 - 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack
2017 - 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen
2015 - 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Turbo Diesel models
2015 - 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Turbo Gasoline models

Whereas the # 24979 fits:

2018 - 2020 Volkswagen e-Golf
2018 - 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI models
2022 - 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Hey Jonathan, the install of the EcoHitch part #EH75SR does not require the permanent removal of the rear bumper beam. It will come off for the install process but then goes back on over the hitch.
