Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 Keystone Hideout travel trailer. Three years ago, I broke a leaf spring and had them all replaced. I just broke another one and would like to figure out a sturdier replacement, to avoid this problem. The trailer currently has 25 1/2, 4-leafed double eyed spring rated at 1750 lb. What springs and shackle/bolts would you recommend? Thank you.

Hey Jeff,
You can definitely go with a heavier duty spring for your trailer. Chances are the springs you currently have on the trailer is a little worn down so its going to measure longer than what it originally was. You most likely had a 24 7/8" spring when they were originally put on. With that said we do have a 6 leaf spring # e76SR that size that is going to jump up to a 2,650lb capacity. This is going to be more heavy duty for your trailer. The one thing I would keep in mind is going with a higher leaf spring is going to raise your trailer somewhere between 3/4"-2" depending on the load and layout of your suspension.
If you are constantly carrying a load and it sounds like the original springs were getting good use, this upgraded spring should not shift your trailers ride too much. Assuming you have a tandem axle trailer I recommend the MORyde suspension upgrade kit # MR46ZR to go along with that. This will have all the necessary bolts, bushings and shackles to replace those leaf springs and get you ready to tow again.
Do your leaf springs mount over the axle or under the axle on that trailer?
