Will The Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler DM14793-81 Replace The CA-5210-B Coupler?

Published 06/23/2025

Question:

I am trying to replace an Atwood a frame trailer coupler with a Demo Ez latch but I am confused on dimensions. My old coupler is the same dimensions as the A frame Couplerc, part CA-5210-B, 14 long and 9 1/2 wide. The Demo Black, DM14793-81 is also 14 long but states 10 5/8 wide. Both these couplers were referred to in a question about a repair kit for an Atwood coupler, so I am confused how they would interchange. Thanks for your help. Al

Hello Al, thanks for reaching out. The A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5210-B and the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-81 are interchangeable. They both fit a 50" degree A-frame which is standard. I would be surprised to hear that your A-frame was anything other than a 50 degree but you could always take a measuring tool and check. As long as it is indeed 50 degrees the Demco # DM14793-81 will work great and will be a much more durable latch compared to the yoke latch.

What kind of trailer is this going on?

@Al Nice ok it definitely should be a 50 degree A-frame unless the trailer is super old you should be good to go. If the CA-5210-B is what you have now, the Demco coupler will undoubtedly work.

So I am assuming the DM14793-97 would also work for my application?
