Demco 2" A-Frame Couplers Dimensions Requirements

Question:

I would like to use this coupler to replace the existing Demco EZ Latch 2-5/16inch coupler on my Featherlite trailer, in order to be able to use the trailer with the 1-1/4inch receiver and 2inch ball max size available on my vehicle. The dimensions given seem to be the same with one exception - the width of the opening at the rear of the coupler is shown as 10-3/4inch whereas my existing coupler measures about 10-1/4. Can you confirm that this coupler will fit my trailer?

That is correct the inner dimension of the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler item # DM14793-95 is 10 3/4 inches. I have attached a picture that breaks down the measurements. You would need to fabricate a spacer on either side to attach this coupler to your trailer. The Bulldog Heavy-Duty Cast Head Coupler w/ Wedge Latch item # BD43805W0317 is a weld on coupler that has a 10 1/4 inch inner measurement. I have attached a picture of it also.
